EYE FOUNDATION
Since setting out on this path in 1984 to protect eye health, to help prevent avoidable blindness and to raise awareness of eye health in society, we continue our work today with determination — guided by the responsibility and experience our long-standing history has given us.
As the Eye Foundation, since our establishment we have embraced an approach that goes beyond being an institution that merely provides healthcare: one that helps society become more informed about eye health, explains the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, and takes a leading role in the prevention of eye diseases. Our promise, “For a Life of Light”, has for years been the strongest expression of this understanding.
Today, without compromising our ethical values and placing people and human health at the centre of all we do, we take pride in providing healthcare at the highest quality standards. We follow developments in technology and medicine closely and, by continuously enhancing our modern medical equipment, we continue to offer our patients reliable, high-quality and contemporary eye-care services.
With the sense of social responsibility that being a foundation brings, alongside our healthcare services we support social-responsibility projects that strengthen social awareness, contribute to the development of educational and scientific work, and attach great importance to sharing knowledge and experience in the field of health.
Under the roof of the Eye Foundation, we continue to provide quality healthcare in Istanbul at our Bayrampaşa Eye Hospital, as well as at our Beria Turaç İdealtepe Eye Centre, which opened in 1997.
Our service journey in Bursa began with the Yıldırım Darüşşifası — the first hospital of the Ottoman Empire — which was restored in keeping with its original form by the General Directorate of Foundations and incorporated into our Foundation in 2001. We now carry on our services in the region without interruption at our Bursa Nilüfer Eye Centre, distinguished by its modern building renovated as of 2024 and its state-of-the-art medical equipment.
In line with our goals of growth and of expanding our service network, we are also excitedly continuing the preparations for the opening of our new eye hospital, which we will bring to life in the Thrace region very soon.
With this understanding, we extend our thanks to all our employees, physicians, donors and supporters who have contributed to the Eye Foundation since its establishment, and to all our patients who place their trust in us; and we hope to serve our society with the same sense of responsibility and belief for many years to come.
